No Peace on the Temple Mount
Still today there were confrontations at the entrances to the Temple Mount,
especially at the Lions’ Gate, between Muslim prayers and security forces
stationed there. The prayers refuse to undergo a check through the metal
detectors, and the Muslim Waqf says that since this is a violation of the
status-quo, until the metal detectors are removed, prayers will not enter Al-
Aqsa. And as the pressure gauge only keeps rising, so does the threshold
of agitation. Today, despite the tension, the state installed security cameras
overlooking the Temple Mount. The Fatah called for a day of rage today in
the territories, and Hamas is also calling for a day of rage on Friday after
the prayers in mosques. The intention is for thousands to pray outside the
Temple Mount, as close as possible to the Al-Aqsa mosque, as a
demonstration of strength against the new security arrangements Israel put
in order. Palestinian officials warn that if anyone was looking for a recipe
for an intifada, this coming Friday (he) will have all the ingredients.
