Who is Wizzy?
You probably know Srulik, the caricature of the Sabra Israeli, with shorts,
sandals and a “tembel” hat that appears in the Ma’ariv newspaper for many
years. Do you know he has a sister? In nineteen sixty seven the WIZO
organization asks caricaturist Dosh to think of a caricature of an Israeli
woman that can represent Israel around the world. After a few sketches he
makes Wizzy, an Israeli (woman) with an international chic. We don’t
know her because WIZO no longer use it, but who knows, maybe she’s
fighting BDS now and helping Israel around the world.
