                         The Sticker Song

“Take all Israeliness, put it all in a capsule, these (bumper) stickers are a
capsule of Israeliness.” “The idea for the Sticker Song was born in me a
day after Rebin’s murder,” author David Grossman wrote this week in a
brief special segment about the Dag Nahash’s song, celebrating its Bar-
Mitzvah. Israel two thousand four looked a bit different than today, when
(bumper) stickers scorched every corner of the country. After he
religiously collected hundreds of stickers over years, Grossman rhymed
them into a song. The only sticker the members of the Dag Nahash
changed is “Death to Arabs.” Over the years The Sticker Song has become
one of the fundamental songs of Israeli music. The band will perform it,
and the entire Homer Mekomi album at the end of January at Hangar
Eleven in the Goldstar Sound System Festival. In conclusion Grossman
wrote this week, that it’s interesting that there are no bumper stickers on
cars today. “I think that this is another symptom of general apathy,”
Grossman added, “And (you) don’t write songs about apathy.”
