Lighting Candles Together

Hanukah in the richest kingdom of the Persian Gulf, Bahrain. A group of
Hassidic men from New York, including businessmen, clergymen and a
cheerful Hassidic band set out for a visit in Bahrain for Hanukah. This
isn’t a breakthrough in the relationship of Israel and the Arab world of
course, but in today’s Israel excitement was shown in the pictures of
Keffiyeh-wearers in Bahrain who got carried away with the Jewish-
Hassidic music and with the yarmulke-wearers. “People were carried
away, even though in my opinion it was obvious to them that these are
Jews and this is what’s interesting here. This is a more liberal place, one
that doesn’t see Israel as the problem of problems.” And on days when all
classic, diplomatic channels en-route to peace seem blocked, there are
(those) who are counting on a bypass to breaking the walls – the religious
route.
