A Blow at the UN
Fourteen countries voted for the resolution regarding the settlements
Friday night at the UN. The United States was of course the one country
that abstained, but in Jerusalem (they’re) casting responsibility for this
diplomatic blow on just one person, Barack Obama. Netanyahu decided to
try (and) create deterrence in order to prevent the possibility of moves like
this in the future. Today, very unusually, on Sunday, ambassadors from the
member countries of the Security Council were summoned to the State
Department for a reprimand talk, and generally the government’s ministers
were instructed to abstain from visits to countries that voted for the
resolution on Friday. Just before Netanyahu attacked the Obama
administration on camera, he demanded from his ministers not to come out
with instigating declarations, since according to him the resolution on
Friday wasn’t the end of it as far as the Obama administration is
concerned, and additional moves could be taken before the end of the
President’s term. Now at the Prime Minister’s office (they’re) looking
forward to January twentieth, the day when Donald Trump enters the
White House. The President Elect attacked the move at the UN in recent
days, but he didn’t criticize the content of the resolution, which condemns
the settlements, and didn’t justify it’s existence. Despite his different
attitude regarding the conflict than that of his predecessor, perhaps the joy
in Jerusalem over Trump’s election might turn out to be too early.
