Naruto’s Selfie

Ten years ago, the photographer David Slater traveled to Indonesia to photograph animals from up
close. He put his camera in the forest, and waited for the animals to get closer (lit. that the animals
will get closer). Naruto the monkey felt very comfortable, got closer to the camera and
photographed itself. The morning after, its selfie was already everywhere, and even Wikipedia
wrote about it, but then the whole mess started. Slater asked Wikipedia to pay him for the picture
and they said that the pictures isn’t his, it’s Naruto’s. Ten years later, the court decided on a
compromise: The picture is Slater’s, and Naruto will receive twenty five percent of the profits.
