Shavu’ot in the South
The residents around Gaza put aside the security tension and made time to
celebrate the holiday eve. Tens of thousands of southern residents wore
white and celebrated the holiday of Shavu’ot like only the Kibbutzes
know. Despite the conflicts on the fence and the kites terrorism that caused
the burning of thousands of dunams of agricultural produce and lasted,
here, over this weekend as well, around Gaza (they) refused to give up the
celebrations. A variety of holiday activities, including a water day for the
kids, shows and of course lots of food and hay. “This holiday is a big
holiday, the holiday of the land, we celebrate with a tractor convoy and a
wonderful ceremony, everyone together, three generations.” Around Israel,
tens of thousands flooded the different locations; more than forty thousand
travelers enjoyed the Kinneret. For now the relative peace at the (Gaza)
strip border was kept today, but the high alert continues.
