Netanyahu and Mozes
It was another day on which politics took place in two parallel universes.
At the offices of the National Fraud Investigations Unit in Lod, Noni
Mozes, Yedioth Ahronoth’s publisher, was interrogated for the third time
today. The Attorney General broke (his) silence today and fended off
criticism for delaying the investigation. Mandelblit explained that the
delay in the Case Two-Thousand investigation, those same tapes he had
been lying around for months, were meant to allow for the completion of
the investigation of the Case One-Thousand, the gifts case, in relative
peace. Meanwhile in Jerusalem, at the Knesset [building], the Likud party
gathered for an improvised show of support for the Prime Minister.
Netanyahu addressed the publishing of the transcripts and said this was a
vast media campaign meant to bring him down. At the Zionist Union
(they) argued today that the recent revelations are a ‘smoking gun’, which
forces Netanyahu to leave his role as Minister of Communications.
According to the Attorney General, this affair is far from being over. The
Prime Minister’s investigations completely take over the Knesset’s
agenda, suspiciousness between players is at its peak, and this in itself can
rattle the political system.
