A Storm in a Cup of Coffee
Quite a few Israelis decided to just pass on buying (their) daily cup of
coffee today. The coffee cup storm started with information that came to
the Ministry of Economy from an espresso machine distributer, who
claimed (that) in a large part of espresso machines in Israel there is a toxic
metal danger. In a random test the Ministries of Health and Economy
conducted, it turned out that the majority of the problem is in machines by
the Italian Bianchi company, which markets machines to many companies
in Israel, including Strauss (company), as well as the Israeli La Favorita
company’s machines. Thousands of its machines are at the Café Café,
Biga, Greg Café coffee houses among others, Sonol’s comfort shops,
Roladin, Cofizz and others. In most companies (they) hurried to change
them today and made sure to also brief (their) employees on how to handle
concerned costumers. It is important to emphasize, the problem isn’t the
coffee itself, but the water that goes through the machine’s metal parts.
And now home espresso machines are also targeted; only two kinds have
been tested so far and the Ministry will expand it in a mega-test when it’s
done testing thousands of industrial espresso machines all over the
country.
