Goodbye to Plastic Bags
Let’s talk about (plastic) bags. Yes, bags! The ones from the
supermarket… think how many of these you threw out this week. Add,
add, what are you ashamed about? Now add what your neighbor threw out,
(your) street, city, the country!
Each year (we) consume one billion six hundred million plastic bags in
Israel, and that is just from the supermarket! We are drowning in bags!
And the bad news – they pollute the environment and aren’t
biodegradable. Bottom line, they are not going to disappear! Not when you
have kids, not when your kids have kids nor when they have kids! So what
(do we) do? Switch to a durable bag and don’t pollute.
The plastic bags law came into effect, and each bag you take at the
supermarket will cost ten Agorot. As of today, take every bag seriously.
Durable bags subsidized by the Ministry of the Environment will be given
out at participating networks, for purchases over a hundred NIS.
