An App for the Righteous Ones
When did you last visit the grave of Rabbi Simeon in Meron, The cave of
the Patriarchs or even the Western Wall? Meet the app that presumes to
save you the trip to all the tombs of righteous ones and holy places. For a
hefty fee you’ll be able to get a blessing for anything you want at any site
you choose, even with your favorite Rabbi, and all this from (your)
cellphone. (The man) who stands behind the idea is Itzik Sudri, the former
Shas Spokesperson and presently an entrepreneur launching “Tikun”, the
app for all salvations. So I volunteered to try the pilot, and shortly after we
order a blessing on the app, at the tomb of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes there’s
(someone) who photographs it and lights a candle. For the blessing you’ll
have to say goodbye to a sum somewhere between fifty four NIS and up to
almost two thousand, as a donation of course, depending on the identity of
the blessing Rabbi. (You) get the final product to (your) cellphone with a
graphic packaging that simulates coming to the tomb. And still, even in
two thousand seventeen there are probably (those) who would prefer to get
(there), be blessed, pray and ask wherever they believe, personally.
