Naruto’s Selfie
Ten years ago, the photographer David Slater travels to Indonesia to
photograph animals. He puts his camera in the forest and waits. Naruto the
monkey walks up to the camera and takes (lit. makes) a selfie. The
morning after, (everyone) sees the selfie everywhere on the Internet, also
on Wikipedia. Slater asks Wikipedia to pay him money for the selfie, but
they say that the selfie is Naruto’s and not his. After ten years, the court
decides that the selfie is Slater’s, but Naruto has to get twenty five percent
of the money.
