ADV Level – Graffiti in Tel Aviv

Band-Aids

If you search well, you'll see band aids on Tel Aviv walls. The person
behind them is called Dede. In fact, "Dede" is the pseudonym in which
he signs his paintings. What is his real name? Maybe we'll never know.
Why band aids? That's a (good) question. Some say that everyone here
is “scratched”. Some
will say we need a
cure. Sometimes you
see the band aids as
part of larger
paintings, and
sometimes they stand
on their own. Dede
began painting on the
walls of the city in
2006, and in recent years he also presents his paintings in art galleries in
Israel and around the world.
Sometimes Dede cooperates with other street artists, and together they
paint, until you cannot tell who did what. In recent years Dede has been
working with his partner - Nitzan Mintz - who writes poems on the
street walls. They met while working on the street, share a studio and
are inspired by each other, but also keep their personal style.
