A Happy-Sad Story
The Pohlers from Michigan adopted Kati in China when she was one year
old. Kati’s parents couldn’t raise her, because in China (you) were only
allowed to have one child in the family. They left Kati on a bridge in
China and wrote a note for the adoptive parents, that in ten or twenty years
(they) should please bring Kati to meet her biological parents at that same
place. Kati’s father waited for her on the bridge every year on her birthday,
but she didn’t come. During this time Kati grew up as an all-American
girl. Only when she was twenty two years old Kati went to China, to that
same bridge, and met her biological parents.
