Shavuot in the Eyes of an Israeli Girl

Soon it will be Shavuot and I am very excited.
Do you know what happened on Shavuot?
First the Jews left Egypt. Then they count a day and then another day,
because they really wanted to receive the Torah. And then on Shavuot all
of the Jews stood next to Mount Sinai and there was a very loud (lit.
strong) sound of a ram’s horn. And then God said the Ten
Commandments:
“I am the Lord, your God, who has taken you out…
You shall not have other gods before me…
Remember the Sabbath…
You shall not kill…
You shall not steal…”
But before that, God wanted (them) to bring him guarantors, in other
words, people who would be responsible, those who would be responsible
that the Jews would keep the Torah.
The Jews said that the children would be the guarantors.
So because of the children, God gave the entire Jewish nation the Torah,
because on Shavuot all of the children and adults go to synagogue.
And then it’s like we’re standing again by Mount Sinai.
And I will come to synagogue and so will by big brother and little sister,
to hear the Ten Commandments on Shavuot.
