The Railway Station

The Railway Station in Jerusalem was built in 1892, because the
people in Jerusalem wanted connection with the coastal plain.
When they built the station, many Jerusalem important people
came: Jews and also Arabs.
Eliezer Ben Yehuda also arrived and gave the train its Hebrew
name "RAKEVET".
The train traveled slowly and since 1960 there haven't been
many passengers. Most people travel already by buses and by
cars.
In 1998 the train ceased functioning and the station in Jerusalem
has been closed.
Many people want to buy the land of the train station, because it
is an expensive a desired location, but the municipality does not
want to sell because it's a historical site.
Nowadays at the location of the station there are many concerts
and festivals.
