The day after, the king and Haman came to the feast at Esther's
home. Again, the king asked Esther: "Queen Esther, what do you
want? I can give you half of the kingdom."
Queen Esther said: "Oh King, a bad man wishes to kill all of my
people." "Who is he?" asked the king.
"It is Haman", replied Esther, "A bad man, an enemy!"
The king was very angry and said: "Hang Haman from a tree –
now!"
Afterwards, Esther and Mordecai said to the king: "What can be
done, King Ahasuerus? We want to help the Jews." The king said to
Esther and to Mordecai: "I will let the Jews defend their lives on
the thirteenth day of Hadar."
And indeed, the Jews defended their lives against their enemies on
the thirteenth day of Hadar, and on the fourteenth day of Hadar they
had a big feast. Since then, every year, we rejoice on the fourteenth
day of Hadar and celebrate Purim.
