Haman was an important minister in King Ahasuerus' parliament,
and the king loved Haman very much.
The king said: all who see Haman – should bow.
Mordecai the Jew sat at the gate of the palace.
Mordecai did not want to bow to Haman, because
the Jews only bow to G-d, not to people.
Haman saw that Mordecai is not bowing, and is
very angry. Haman knew that Mordecai is a Jew, and said: "I am
going to kill all the Jews." Haman casted lots to see what month he
would kill all the Jews on. The lot came out on the month of Hadar.
Haman asked the king to kill all the Jews. Haman wrote to all of the
countries: on the fourteenth day of Hadar, all Jews should be killed,
and signed the letter with the king's stamp.
Mordecai heard what had happened, and let out a great and
sorrowful cry. He told Esther: "Esther, you must go to King
Ahasuerus and speak to him. You must help the Jews!"
