The Three Millionth Tourist

When Ioana Isac from Romania booked a flight to Israel for a hundred
Euros, she didn’t dream that this is how she’ll be received when she lands.

Many reporters, cameras and a televised press conference with the

Minister of Tourism, this is how the day started for the three millionth
tourist who entered Israel just this year. Outside a luxurious limousine was

already waiting for her and her partner, with a bottle of champagne of

course, which took them for a tour in Jerusalem with an unusual guide.
The Ministry of Tourism took advantage of this visit to edit an image clip

for the Ministry, which will soon be published around the world. The

couple’s room was upgraded to a luxurious suite with a view overlooking
the old city. The two will also be guests at the Dead Sea and get a

helicopter tour along the coast. They’ll finish with a private meal at the

home of Chef Nir Tzuk. The Ministry of Tourism can mark a big ‘check’
for this visit, but it’s not certain that this too will succeed in increasing the

number of tourists who come here, a number which (hasn’t been) able to

leap significantly in recent years.
