Give Me Five
For the first time (they) took the official Ministry of Education data, and
now (we) can see the map of those enrolled for a five-unit math high-
school final. The one who takes the honorary crown is Kiryat Ono, thirty
percent point four of high-school students there take the prestigious final.
To understand how impressive this datum is, the national average is eleven
percent point four. But the most surprising story isn’t the center, but the
geographic periphery. Be’er Sheva made a leap of eighty seven percent,
and almost a doubling of the data in Dimona, and this trend is correct for
the north as well. “Eventually it’s a matter of priorities; when you set a
high goal, believe it’s possible, then the periphery is nothing more than a
state of mind.” So the trend is positive, but there are other cities that need a
lot of investment, like Or Yehuda for instance. In summary, Minister of
Education Naftali Bennett’s reform caused quite a bit of criticism, but
undoubtedly works. Now is the time to recreate that same success in
English studies as well.
