High Intermediate Level – Graffiti in Tel Aviv
The Street Poet
Nitzan Mintz is a poet who writes her
poems in the streets. She works with
words and materials: old trees,
notebooks, paper and plastic. She
believes that the materials she finds
can be changed when she gives them
new space and meaning.
Mintz writes in order to give words to
her feelings. She chooses to put the
poems in the city streets to give them
social and political meaning. Mintz's
words are harsh and sometimes violent.
Mintz's boyfriend, Dede, also does graffiti. They met while working in
the street, and now they also work together. In recent years (you can)
[it's possible to] find her poems in galleries in Israel and around the
world.
