Binyan Nif’al – Present Tense
Concluding Translation Test (cont.)– םוּג ְר ִת ן ַח ְב ִמ
In one story, Winnie the Pooh comes to Rabbit's house. Rabbit
lives underground, and his door is really a hole – ר ח in the ground.
Winnie the Pooh arrives and goes in (enters). Rabbit offers him
something to eat or drink. Pooh says that he loves to eat honey, but then
he eats so much that he cannot get out through the hole! He gets stuck -
ע ַק ְתִנ and must wait several days. When he is smaller, then he is able to
go.
In another story, Winnie the Pooh is walking through the forest
when he hears a buzzing - םוּז ְמִז. He knows that where there's buzzing,
there are bees - םי ִרוֹב ְד, and where there are bees, there's honey. And we
already know that Winnie the Pooh loves honey. He climbs the tree, but
after all his hard work, he cannot reach the honey. He asks Christopher
Robin if he has a balloon. Christopher Robin has a balloon from his
friend's birthday party, so he gives it to Winnie the Pooh. Winnie the
Pooh takes it and flies up in the sky, but he still cannot reach the honey.
In the end, he is tired, dirty - ךְָל ְכ ֻּל ְמ and sad, and he has no more honey
than he did at the beginning.
