What’s in Our Food?
It’s considered (to be) the holy of holies for the technological world; all
the big names present their innovations here each year, from smart TVs,
the most advanced smartphones and driverless cars. Tomorrow, alongside
technology giants like Samsung, LG, Sony and others, a mega-company
from China will announce here at the CES technological exhibition a
cooperation with a small Israeli company called Consumer Physics.
Alongside the camera, flash and fingerprint sensor, this phone will be
integrated with one more sensor – SCiO. It will be able to tell you what
you are eating exactly. In less than three seconds you’ll be able to know
how sweet the strawberry or watermelon on the shelf are, or even how
many calories and fat percentage a cheese has, as well as tell you how
much fat percentage you have in (your) body. Tens of millions of dollars
have already been invested in this company; one of the investors is the
famous actor Ashton Kutcher. Chang Hong’s phone will only be marketed
in China for now, and in a market of one and a half billion people, this
kind of cooperation is worth tens of millions of dollars for the small
company from Hod Hasharon. By the way, they say it is just the
beginning.
