                 Yachimovich vs. Nissenkorn

The claims of forgery and cheating at the election for the head of the
Histadrut were the grand finale of an emotional campaign, loaded with
slandering and blows below the belt. Nissenkorn, all along, attacked
Yachimovich personally for everything he could find. But the real blow hit
her after this denial of a secret political agreement with Eitan Cabel. All
along, Yachimovich argued (there were) irregularities on Nissenkorn’s
end, but (these) claims peaked on election day itself. Already on Tuesday
night, election day, Yachimovich realized she has a problem. Results
coming in from the ground pointed to a two-digit gap in the result for
Nissenkorn, and only then did she raise the concern for forgery and ballot
diverting. On Nissenkorn’s behalf (they) claim that Yachimovich only
remembered to complain when she realized she was headed for a loss.
Judge Eitan Orenstein instructed to stop vote counting late at night, but at
the end of a deliberation decided the count will continue. This battle ends
today with a very bitter taste, but that accompanied us all along anyway, so
no one is really surprised.
