Old Katamon

In the 20th century rich Arabs buy lands in Katamon from the
Greek Orthodox who live there.
The Arabs build big houses, schools and stores. (They) also build
embassies for Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.
Around Katamon there are Jewish neighborhoods and the
Haganah wants to conquer Katamon. There is a terrible [hard] war
in Jerusalem in 1948, and in the end (they) conquer Katamon.
After the war, a lot of people from the old city come to live in
Katamon. They build a synagogue on Hizkiyahu Hamelekh St.
called “Refugees of 5708 (1948)”. (You) can visit the synagogue
today.
