         Ticho House – ‫ֵבית ִטיכֹו‬

English translation
Avraham and Anna Ticho immigrated (made Aliya) to Israel in
1912. They were cousins and after arriving Israel, they got
married. Avraham was a famous and dedicated ophthalmologist,
and Anna helped him. They say that Dr. Ticho accepted every
person – Jewish or Arabic, rich or poor. People from all over the
Middle East came to him, and waited for a long time in line. His
clinic was in the first floor of this house.
Anna Ticho studied art in Vienna and love painting Jerusalem
and its view very much. Anna and Avraham's house was a
cultural center for the leaders of

of the Jewish settlement, British government people, artists
authors and intellectuals who came to visit from abroad – like
the philosopher Martin Buber, the painter Marc Chagall.
Dr. Ticho passed away in 1960. Anna kept living, creating and
hosting in this house until her dying day. At her last days, Anna
decided to donate the house and its art pieces to the residents of
Jerusalem as an honor tribute to the city she dearly loved.
In 1980 Anna was awarded (got) the Israel Prize, and died in
that year.
