Ticho House – ‫ֵבית ִטיכֹו‬

English translation
Avraham and Anna Ticho were cousins. They arrived in Israel
in 1912 and got married here.
Avraham was a famous ophthalmologist, and Anna helped him.
Dr. Ticho treated every man – Jewish or Arabic, rich or poor.
People from all over the Middle East came to him, and waited
for a long time in line.
Anna Ticho studied art in Vienna and love painting Jerusalem
very much.
Avraham and Anna's house was a cultural center for the people
of Israel. Many famous people came to their house – British
government people, artists, authors and intellectuals.
The philosopher Martin Buber, the painter Marc Chagall and
many others visited this house.
Dr. Ticho passed away in 1960. Anna kept living, painting and
hosting many people in this house. She decided to donate this
house and the art pieces to the state of Israel.
In 1980 Anna was awarded (got) the Israel Prize, and died in
that year.
