Alcatraz Triathlon
The Alcatraz Triathlon takes place outside the famous San Francisco prison. It is one of the most
difficult triathlons in the world. This is the fortieth year of the triathlon and now three Israelis came
in second place in the competition. Haim Gopher ran, Eran Levy was on the bike and Uri Nitzan
swam in the cold waters of San Francisco. When Alcatraz Prison was active, many people tried to
escape from it by swimming and did not succeed. The three Israelis know each other from the army.
They were paratroopers. They trained for half a year for the competition.
