The Bridge and Peace Monument
Yigal Tomarkin built this statue in 1966 in a symbolic location - the place
where the border between Israel and Jordan passed.
The statue expresses a desire for peace.
There are two motifs in the statue:
War and work - the metal tools.
Construction and peace - the stone structure.
This is the only place where there’s writing on some statue or structure
just in Hebrew and Arabic.
Paradoxically, the fountain that stands just a few meters from here does
indeed implement the coexistence of Jewish and Muslim children, who
paddle in its waters.
A somewhat practical coexistence… but maybe this is the real
coexistence?
