Item #3 (Advanced Level)
FoldiMate
At first it was the washing machine that came into our lives, the drier
joined in right after. But somehow in the past eighty years, no one has
been able to solve the most tedious activity. In this lab in Zur Yigal (they)
want to create the next revolution in home appliances. For seven years Gal
Ruzov has been working on this development, FoldiMate. It’s only in
initial stages at the moment, but already now can identify the type of fabric
and clothing, and in three minutes fold this pile of clothes for instance.
And even though today it seems like robots can do almost anything,
folding a simple shirt or towel still seems like an impossible mission for
them. In the meantime, the company from Zur Yigal has difficult
competition in the world. FoldiMate will be available for sale in late two
thousand nineteen, only for United States residents at first. The price –
nine hundred and eighty dollars. So the future might look pink, but if you
take a peek towards your laundry hamper for a moment – you’ll see you
still have another load or two to fold.
