"Dan Gifts" store

There wasn't always a gift shop on 27 Bethlehem Road. Thirty years ago
there was another shop there, a small tailor's shop called Katz. No one knew
Mr. Katz's first name, so they all called him by his family name. Katz was
a Holocaust survivor who survived the war thanks to his profession. After
the Holocaust he immigrated to Israel, and in Jerusalem he continued to
work in the job that saved his life.
Behind Katz's small shop was a large house in which lived a young man
named David. David liked to visit old Katz, help him, talk to him and drive
him home every day. They soon became good friends. Katz loved David
very much, who was the only one who spoke to him and was interested in
him. When Katz began thinking about retirement, he knew immediately
who he wanted to give his shop to.
When David heard about the idea he was very surprised. "I do not know
how to be a salesman, I'm just a young man!" But Katz did not give up. "Do
not worry, I'm sure you'll succeed, you're talented and smart, only you will
get my shop." He loved David so much and wanted him to get the store and
no one else.
Finally, after much entreaty, David was convinced. He decided to open a
shop for houseware and gifts in Katz's old shop.
Katz's shop was very small and so David expanded it into his living room.
And indeed, to this day, the store is inside the house and the house is inside
the store. Katz was very happy, and came to visit David many times, until
he died.
In the living room of the house (and the shop) David has a special souvenir
which he guards extremely well - the old scissors that Katz has worked with
all his life.
