"The Aharon House”
Between all the houses in the neighborhood, if you look well, you can find
corners with special charm. One of them is the Aharon house on Yehuda
Street.
One evening, in Russia of the 60’s, Aharon, a Jewish- Russian artist, sat
with his friends and said: “When I’m 40 I’ll live in Israel". His friends
looked at Aharon and at each other, and after a few seconds of silence
burst out laughing and told Aharon that it’s a good joke because it’s
impossible that something like this can really happen. A few years passed,
and in the summer of 1972 Aharon and his wife succeeded, with great
luck, to leave Russia and make aliya to the land of Israel. Aharon is a little
sorry that he didn’t manage to keep his promise, and only reached Israel at
the age of 40 and a week.
After several weeks they settled in Jerusalem and decided that this is
where they want to live. A few years later Aharon got the opportunity to
buy a house that was not in such a good condition for a low price in the
neighborhood of Baqa in Jerusalem. Aharon bought the house from a
different Aharon, and because only people by the name Aharon have lived
there since 1948, the house received the name "The Aharon House”.
At the end of the 80’s a friend turned to Aharon and suggested that he
come and help establish an artist’s colony in Sanur in the north of
Samaria, and Aharon rose to the challenge. Aharon’s wife arrived as well
to check it out, but decided that she prefers living in their house in
Jerusalem, and thus Aharon divided his days between the artist’s colony
and Jerusalem.
Aharon lived in the artist’s colony until it’s evacuation in 2005 as part of
the disengagement. Aharon, a known international artist, has won several
prizes, continues to create all the time, and invites you with pleasure to
come and see the special art in his home.
