“Shalom-Meir” Tower and Gymnasia Herzliya

In the 1960s, Tel Aviv municipality wants to build a big tower – the

highest tower in the Middle East – Meir Shalom Tower. In 1965, the

new tower is the highest tower, not just in the Middle East (but) also

in Asia and Africa! In the tower there are 34 floors, and its height is

142 meters.

People from all over the world come to the tower and want to go up,

to see the whole of Tel Aviv, to see the sea and to eat at a restaurant.

Today, there is no restaurant here and this isn't the highest tower in

Israel. Do you know what tower is higher?

In the place of the tower there is also history. Before the tower there is

an important and big school here, the first school in Hebrew –

Gymnasia Herzliya. The school's building is very pretty and special.

Many people in Tel Aviv like the school, but – what can you do –

more people want to build a tower and today there is a tower, and

there is no school. What a shame.
