Item #1 (Advanced Level)
After Ten Years
“In the morning they let us in our special briefing room and tell us, ‘guys,
you’re going to attack in Syria’. All through the six months, we knew the
ranges we’re going to fly, but the first time they tell us the word ‘Syria’ is
eleven o’clock on the day of the attack. The squadron commander lets us
in, tells us, guys, what we’ve practiced (for) is an attack in Syria, it’s going
to be done tonight. At two or three PM (we) get the green light, actually.
They let us in the room and show us – this is a nuclear reactor built under
cover in Syria and it is the target. The flight, like we said, is a flight that’s
very secretive, it requires a very high level of precision. The smallest
mistake can get one of us discovered. All the planes reported to the leader
that they hit the target. We see what’s happening in Syria now, and I think
that making this decision by the executive branch ten years ago, a very
brave decision we have to say, and in this case it’s unequivocally a
meaningful event. As for singular, the word singular in our region is
something you can never commit to”.
