Saying Goodbye to Rabbi Shteinman
At Bnei Brak (they) woke up to a difficult morning today, the leader of the
Lithuanian-Haredi public in recent years, Rabbi Shteinman, passed away
at the age of a hundred and four. Rabbi Shteinman was a pragmatic man,
patient and modest, maybe too modest. He asked that no more than ten
people come to his funeral, but tens of thousands of ultra-orthodox people
came to Bnei Brak from all over Israel to escort him on his final way.
Rabbi Shteinman, the biggest Rabbi in recent years, left big shoes behind,
and it’s unclear whether anyone will be able to fit into [lit. step into] them.
