Wanting to Build in Qalqilya
The drama of the city of Qalqilya is more than a regular political drama. In the crowded Palestinian
city (they) want to build fourteen thousand more apartments. The political right in Israel opposes,
and Benjamin Netanyahu appeases (them) that they will only build six thousand apartments. On the
one hand, there’s no place for Palestinians to live in the city, but on the other hand if they build all
fourteen thousand apartments, the Jewish settlements that today are far away from the city, will be
very close. In Israeli politics (they) understand that this isn’t a simple dilemma, but a bigger
question of what will happen with the C territories in the future, and will the Israeli political right
will be able to annex them to Israel like it wants.
