                       Searching the Trash

It all really started when one prayer at one Shtiebel in the United States
complained that his Tefillin was stolen. The search after the thief led to the
security cameras, which revealed that the Tefillin just fell into a nearby
garbage bag, and were honorably taken to a vast New York landfill.
American media bewilderingly followed the mobilization of many ultra-
orthodox volunteers, who came in to sift through the trash and save the
Tefillin. A rabbinical cry “to save the Tefillin that fell in the trash from
disgrace, god forbid,” deplored the public “to try hard, using (their) body
and money” (Aramaic) to find the Tefillin. There was no chance this
would end badly. Eventually, in one of countless garbage bags, the holy
loss was found a short while ago.
