                                               Crazy Weather

Frozen rivers, flooded streets, entire cities where time, it seems, stood still.

This is how vast parts of North America looked like this past weekend.

The cyclone storm that hit the east coast, from Florida to Maine in New
England, was joined on Saturday by a unusual Arctic cold front, second for

the season, which lowered the temperatures well, well below zero, and sent

millions of Americans to shut in (their) homes. And what about those who
have no home? Tens of thousands of homeless people were evacuated

from the streets to halls that were turned into shelters, and volunteers got

them a hot meal. Thousands of flights to and from the United States were
canceled after runways were covered by a thick layer of snow. Tens of

thousands of passengers were stranded for hours at the JFK terminal

without knowing whether and when they’ll take off towards their
destination. And in the southern hemisphere – a record breaking summer.

An unusual heat wave the likes of which Australia hasn’t seen since

nineteen thirty nine, with temperatures higher than forty five degrees and a
report of an asphalt strip that melted outside Sydney. And for the forecast:

in Australia temperatures will gradually come down and in America – a
defrosting, a significant rise in temperatures starting the next few hours.
