               Jackie Kennedy Speaks Hebrew

Natalie Portman likes challenges. After enthralling the audience in Black
Swan, and after having directed her first movie all in Hebrew, she now
steps into the shoes of Jackie Kennedy, widow of the United States’
President murdered in nineteen sixty three. The movie shows what the
President’s wife went through in the week following the political murder
that rattled the American nation. Critics praised the Israeli-American
actress’ work. Even those who weren’t excited about the movie itself
couldn’t ignore the skills Portman demonstrated in front of the cameras
once again. In recent days, Portman has been showing up online, after
teaching Americans a few words in Hebrew. But our language still
challenges her, and she definitely doesn’t presume to speak Hebrew
fluently. The Academy Awards will be held at the end of the month, and
Portman will have a chance to take another statuette. Unfortunately for
her, the competition in the (best) actress category isn’t easy this year. She
was pregnant during her previous win, with her son Alef, after the first
letter of the alphabet; she’ll show up pregnant to the upcoming ceremony
as well. (Those) who believe in superstitions can at least count on that.
