Who has a Long Moustache?

When Haim Hoffman was a child, he saw a bus driver with an enormous moustache and decided he
has to have one. Lutz Gieser from Berlin, seventy six years old, has been growing a beard for six
decades. When he was twelve his grandmother showed him a picture of his family members, all had
a beard and he realized his calling in life immediately. The beards and moustaches championship
has been taking place around the world for more than twenty years, but Haim decided to bring it to
Israel. Fifty beard groomers from around the world came here, and the first European championship
will be open to the public on Friday at Abraham Hostel in Tel Aviv. A moment before the
championship began Lutz had a major crisis, he had to cut (his) Chinese moustache because of two
wayward hairs and take off eight centimeters. And Haim remembers every morning, when he goes
to work in a museum in Berlin, why every day he shampoos, waxes and sprays, and devotes his life
to the beard, “Many, many groups come to me, young people, tourists, Israelis, all sorts, and they
only see me and already – the laughter! That’s the pleasure I get.”
