My Little Clown
Two weeks before Purim, and almost six months after the scary clowns
phenomenon arrived in Israel and caused panic in the streets, it seems like
they’re about to come back – big time. “It wasn’t like this in previous
years, a skeleton costume, a ghost costume, all kinds of clowns.” Toy
stores report a leap of about fifty percent in sales of scary costumes,
compared to last year. “Very conventional costumes got a twist to scary.”
Scary clowns sales in particular grew by about twenty percent. When the
scary clowns phenomenon came to Israel in October, it wasn’t funny – not
for those who ran into them nor to the authorities. (Those) who’ll want to
join the new trend now, will pay about seventy NIS for a skeleton
costume. When talking about the starring clowns, the prices climb and so a
crazy clown will cost a hundred and fifty NIS at Fun Village, at Toys R Us
it will cost about a hundred and seventy NIS. Despite the prices and
despite the fear, it seems like quite a few clowns and monsters will roam
the streets this coming holiday, even if not everyone will like it.
