                      The End to Amos Six

The Falcon Nine launch pad is in flames. Fire squads are trying to put out
the fire, the Israeli communication satellite Amos Six that has already been
assembled at the tip of the rocket towards the launch in two days, is
completely destroyed. There were no casualties. The American company
SpaceX’s launch pad incinerated during the pre-launch checkups. What
caused the explosion - is what’s being examined now. The Israeli company
Spacecom operates Amos Six and it will supply communication and
television services to Europe, and the highlight is the project with
Facebook - supplying broadband internet to Africa. Massive work by
hundreds of engineers and technicians for years proceeded this moment.
Amos Six is the biggest satellite ever built in Israel. Years-long effort and
a satellite worth two hundred million dollars went down the drain tonight,
casting a long shadow and a big question mark over the demand for Israeli
communication satellites and the future of Israel’s space industry.
