BIG SCIENCE COMPETITION
BIG SCIENCE COMPETITION
As we battled through the challenges of 2021, trying to keep everything as “normal” as possible, BMGS students
in Years 7 to 10 participated in the Big Science Competition.
We were delighted by the performances of all students, and encourage everyone to keep the bar raised high as
we help develop the important skills of using evidence to draw conclusions and critically evaluating sources of
information, in preparation for the ‘information overload’ of today’s world.
High Distinctions (top 5%) were achieved by (in ascending order):

A USTRALIAN SCIENCE OL YMPIAD EXAMINA TIONS
AUSTRALIAN SCIENCE OLYMPIAD EXAMINATIONS
Students in Year 11 are invited to participate in the Australian Science Olympiad Exams, which are held in the
middle of Term 3 each year. These exams are very rigorous and participating in them is a considerable challenge.
The following students are to be acknowledged for embracing this challenge, some of whom has achieved
excellent results:
• Vaughan Dugdale: Credits in Biology and Physics and Participation in Chemistry;
• Oliver Freeman: Credit in Physics and Participation in Chemistry;
• Scarlett Frosh: Participation in Biology;
• Amy Ling: Credits in Biology and Chemistry and Participation in Physics;
• Jamie Wennerbom: Credit in Biology and Participation in Chemistry;
Particular mention should be made of Ethan Patton’s achievements, as he participated in all
three disciplines (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and gained a Distinction (top 10%) in Physics.
