 EXECUTIVE CORNER
Abraham Lincoln famously said, “The best way to predict your future is to create it.” Every day at FNF we create our future success by working hard, exploring new avenues and providing new opportunities. Our drive to create a great future by working hard led us to an amazing first half of the year. Our second quarter adjusted pre-tax title earnings and adjusted pre-tax title margin represented our best quarterly performance in those metrics in 15 years. While we can take a moment to enjoy this success, we must continue to look forward and search for ways to create new success.
In March we did just that by announcing our plans to acquire Stewart Information Services, the fourth largest title insurance company in the U.S. Since then, we have held more than forty Town Hall-type meetings with more than 1,100 Stewart employees across the country. In these meetings, we have given Stewart employees a glimpse into FNF and what it means to be a part of our family. Each of these meetings has left the FNF executive team, as well as the Stewart employees, energized and excited about the partnership that is to come once all of the regulatory approvals have been received.
While we are on the look-out for opportunities outside of our Company, we can also cultivate new success by looking inside and shining a light on the talent within. In “Business Spotlight,” we highlight various parts of our organization that may not be so well-known. Our FNF Canada operation is a great example of a family gem that can help us find new business opportunities for ourselves and our customers. We also have several amazing operations in our Northwest Division that have been acknowledged for their outstanding audit results with the Don Pursglove Memorial STAR Award, a special recognition that honors not only the hard work of our operations, but also the memory of a very dear former employee.
Providing opportunities to employees is another way to ensure our continued success. Our 2018 Leadership program gave 126 employees an opportunity to learn about being a leader for our Company. This year’s new format also gave some of our existing managers the ability to provide insight on how to help our future managers be even more successful.
Education is another important way we provide new opportunities to help foster a successful future. One of our prized FNF legacies, our scholarship program, was refreshed this year and is now the FNF Scholars Scholarship Program. Extending this program has allowed us to help even more dependents of our employees realize their college dreams.
We are working hard on all fronts to create our successful future here at FNF. I hope you are as inspired as I am by the stories of accomplishment and promise from across our organization.
