New FNF Scholars Scholarship Program Expands
for Greater Impact
This year, the Fidelity National Financial Scholarship Program received a new name, new look and even more scholarship awards to help make college dreams come true.
In order to expand the opportunity to award scholarships for the 2018-2019 scholarship year, the refreshed and renamed FNF Scholars Scholarship Program provides two different scholarship opportunities. This allows FNF to help even more students on their journey to attain their first Bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university. The number of awards in each category will be determined by the Company based on the applicants for the given year.
The William P. Foley Scholarship provides merit-based awards in the amount of $5,000 to those individuals in the top tier of applicants based on their submission.
The Fidelity Executive Scholarship provides merit-based scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each to those individuals in the second tier of applicants based on their submission. An applicant who receives $2,500 could qualify for the $5,000 William P. Foley Scholarship the following year depending on their grade point average (GPA).
Qualifications for Application
Qualification requirements can vary each year and are based on whether you are a new, first time applicant or a returning, renewal applicant. All applicants, however, must be the legal dependent of a full-time (30 hours or more per week) employee who has been employed with FNF or ServiceLink.
Typically, new applicants are asked to submit the following documentation:
• Transcript sent from high school guidance counselor of the last two years’ grades reflecting an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher
• Two letters of recommendation, one from each source below:
» academic (e.g. teacher, professor or guidance counselor) » non-family (e.g. employer, spiritual leader or
scout leader)
• One page essay detailing your goals for obtaining an
undergraduate degree
Once all applications have been received, winning selections are made by a committee comprised of Fidelity National Financial managers. The decisions are based solely on the merit of the applicant, without regard to the parent’s position or income. Information about next year’s scholarship application process will be released in the 1st quarter of 2019.
Program’s History and Impact
“Since its inception in 2007, the FNF Scholarship Program has become an important part of the Fidelity legacy,” explained Mike Nolan, President of FNF. “We’re very proud of that legacy and the knowledge that we have helped so many families send their children to college to pursue their dreams.” FNF has awarded more than $9.6 million in the form of 1,925 scholarships to highly qualified dependents of FNF employees.
For the 2018-2019 scholarship year, FNF awarded 145 renewals scholarships, 50 new William P. Foley Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each and 60 new Fidelity Executive Scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each. In total, 255 scholarships were given this year, a 13% increase in awards from the 225 given in the 2017-2018 scholarship year.
