GW: I’d like for them to hear the originality in what I do, even if I’m covering a Johnny Cash song. I
want to keep the spirituality there because that’s what I am all about, rather it be a cover song or
original. I hope people will buy my music and pass it on to future generations.
SW: What can people expect when they attend a Gary West show?
GW: They can expect me not to put on a wig and impersonate Johnny Cash. That’s not what we
do. My guys will always be dressed professionally in black and white suits. You’ll hear some Johnny
Cash songs that are nearly identical to the originals and some completely different. You’ll also hear
some Waylon and Willie and of course, my original songs. I want people to have fun. I am very
spontaneous. It’s not fake. It’s real and honest. We are human and enjoy having fun and putting
smiles on people’s faces. I try to give folks music and memories that will last a lifetime.
