Jere Perry: It’s great to catch up with
you, Jeff. Your album, your fourth
full-length studio album with DC4
“Atomic Highway,” was just released
th
on the 18 of September on HighVol
Music. This has to be an exciting
time!
Jeff Duncan: Yeah. It took a while to
do it, but we finally got it done. So,
we’re excited!
JP: It’s been a while since you
released your last album “Electric
Ministry.” What was it that made
now the right time to put out another
DC4 studio album?
JD: Well, there were a lot of things
that happened -- mainly scheduling
and plus I had relocated from Los
Angeles to Las Vegas, where I live
now. I also got pretty busy with
Armored Saint starting in 2015 as
well. Rowan Robertson (DC4
guitarist) started doing a show out here called Rock Vault. His schedule got pretty tight. Shawn was doing some
different things. So really, it was scheduling. I was writing and just kind of whittling it down to the songs I wanted
to record. Plus, we didn’t have a record deal. We didn’t want to pool our money together and make a record for
a thousand dollars. We wanted to find a deal. Fortunately, we ran into Bill Chavis, who we had talked to in the
past. He was excited about us doing a record for his label, HighVol Music. Once we actually started recording, it
was pretty quick.
JP: You had some great guests appear on “Atomic Highway.” Can you tell our readers who they were and how
it came about?
JD: Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses) did the piano on “Baba O’Riley.” He actually also did some keyboards for us on
our last album “Electric Ministry” as well. I’ve known Dizzy for a long, long time…before Guns N’ Roses. He’s
always been very gracious about doing stuff, as long as he’s got the time. I’ve done some touring with him in
the past with his solo band, The Dizzy Reed Band. John Bush was an obvious choice. Since “Baba O’Riley” was a
cover, I thought it would be cool to exchange verses with another singer. Of course, my first choice was John. I
asked him, and he said, “Sure, thanks for asking.” He came down and knocked it out of the park. It really comes
down to…I have some really cool friends.
JP: It’s always good to have cool friends.
JD: Very talented, cool friends.
JP: That is a helluva cover of The Who’s classic “Teenage Wasteland” (“Baba O’Riley”). How did that come about?
