I wonder at times as if there has been a rip in the space-time continuum? If you do not know
what this means, you can always look it up in Wookieepedia. As this is a music article, science
will be kept to a minimum. However, I believe I can explain the aforementioned question by
discussing two unrelated people in somewhat different circumstances that have similarities and
whose lives recently intersected.
In 1961, a boy was birthed by a young mother in Midwest USA. By the age of three, he had been
exposed to a great selection of sounds, thanks to his music-loving Mom. Specifically, he listened
quite often to the “Meet the Beatles” album spinning on the phonograph. The vibrations and
electricity of the music caused the young lad to run in circles every time the song “I Saw Her
Standing There” played. He, of course, had no understanding of the lyrics, but the vibe surely
amped him up. This exposure at a young age followed the boy as he grew into a man and although
not a musician himself, his path led toward him immersing himself in music projects,
incorporating music into his daily life.
Forty years passed, and in 2001, another boy was birthed to a young mother in Dallas, TX. He too,
was exposed to music at a very young age by his mom while riding along in her car. Quite often,
they listened to The Beatles, and more specifically, Paul McCartney and Wings. Unlike the
previous boy, this one entered into the world extremely gifted as a musician. He was drumming
by age 5. At age 8 he was singing, drumming, and playing guitar in a Beatles Tribute band where
the oldest member was 13. They played gigs together, and their young talent was obvious to all
who happened to catch them live or on YouTube.
I am going to introduce you to the 2nd boy first. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present to
you the newest ION Indie Magazine “ReverbNation Artist of the Month,” GRIFFIN TUCKER. Griffin
is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has mastered 9 instruments. He is an artist
who could be best described as a throwback rocker, writing ballads/love songs on the piano a la
Paul McCartney.
By the age of 11, Griffin had already played in over 100 live shows. He has toured with a Disney
artist Zendaya and has a played at The House of Blues as a solo rock act. He was also selected to
be in The Beatles documentary “Scream and Shout: 31 Days That Changed America Forever.”
At the age of 13, Griffin competed in the “Texas Ten Under Twenty” guitar competition and won!
Plus, more recently in 2016 and 2017, he won 3 categories at London’s “Fab Charts Awards” for
“Best Male Artist,” Best Video,” and “Best Song,” and he has won numerous other awards for
vocals and guitar. He has additionally appeared on The Voice (Season 12), and American Idol
(Season 16).
Griffin Tucker’s debut EP “Believe It” was released in the summer of 2017. The songs from this
album are what first caught my attention as they demonstrated his prolific rock style. Until I
actually spoke with him, I thought of him as only a young rocker, which to me is extremely cool
in itself. I then learned there was much, much more depth to him. Simply put, I am strongly
impressed by his talent! The thing though that I find amazing is his presence. When I first started
researching, I was drawn to how comfortable and confident he is. You can sense this even in his
very early years. He is a natural. I could make comparisons to other artists, but that would not do
him justice. He has a clear understanding of who he is and what he wants to do with his career.
