Out of Los Angeles, The Eiffels bring a sound that reminds me a lot of the 80’s music
with their heavy use of the synthesizer. The group has been able to achieve success
with one of their songs featured in a Netflix move, a video game, and a spot on the
Vans Warped Tour. The group was kind enough to take a few minutes to answer
some questions about their journey.
Tim Board: How did The Eiffels come together? How did you decide upon the
band name?
The Eiffels: I had a notepad on my phone with hundreds of names. Every time I
started to like something; I'd find out it was taken already. One day, the name The
Eiffels came to me. I thought it sounded big and iconic. As soon as I realized it wasn't
taken, I made it official.
TB: How would you best describe your music to someone who has not heard
of The Eiffels?
TE: We've been described as synth rock quite a bit. It's definitely somewhere
between dance rock and synth pop.
TB: Your music reminds me a lot of the early 80’s music vibe with the heavy
synthesizer pop feel. Were you going for that sound and was it intentional on
your part?
TE: I'd say it was and still mostly is unintentional. We like using synths, which I think
is the main element that gives our music that 80's feel. However, I did grow up
listening to a lot of 80's music, so there may be a subconscious influence in other
areas of the music, too.
