I almost missed this show. I debated whether to work a
local rock band shoot or see these fantastic rising stars. I
chose Old Dominion. The band consists of Matthew
Ramsey (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Trevor
Rosen (rhythm guitar, keyboards), Whit Sellers (drums),
Geoff Sprung (bass guitar), and Brad Tursi (lead guitar).
To me, their music is a blend of contemporary country with
rock instrumentation and catchy pop vibes.
Old Dominion vocalist Matthew Ramsey broke his pelvis a
few months back in an ATV mishap, yet there he was in
front of an audience Friday night at AVA Amphitheater in
Tucson, Arizona, perched on a bar stool (with crutches
leaning behind him in their own guitar stand) and singing
"Life is short, make it sweet," from the band's 2019 hit
"Make it Sweet."
"We won't allow a separated pelvis to slow us," he
mentioned right at the beginning of the show. He spent
most of Friday's show sitting, but he did occasionally stand
up to celebrate with the audience after every few songs --
and probably to stretch his legs and butt cheeks.
